The project involved the construction of an extension and refurbishment of the existing school. The extension added 8 classrooms, a sports hall and link corridor to the existing school and associated external works.
The project was phased because the existing school remained live during the extension construction. The first phase involved segregating the construction activities from the live school campus and constructing the extension on the existing playing fields. The construction statement took into consideration the phasing of site traffic to avoid the school in and school out times during the day. Consideration was also given to the control of noise and dust due to the close proximity of the existing live building. The first phase was completed over an 8 month period to coincide with the summer holidays.
