Project Description

Refurbishment and upgrade of the existing breast clinic to provide a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment service. The state of the art unit is equipped to offer same-day consultation and investigation, providing a full range of breast cancer treatments including chemotherapy, day surgery for lumpectomies, mastectomies, axillary’s surgery, breast reconstruction and gynae-endocrine service. The facility is the national lead for this type of treatment. The refurbishment work was undertaken in an occupied environment with site restriction dictating access to the first floor by means of temporary hoist and external window opening enlargement. Noisy work such as structural alterations and forming a new lift shaft was pre-planned with notice given weeks in advance and carried out within limited time periods. The installation of new scanners was undertaken direct by the Trust with all attendance and protection provided by the main contractor.
